| I started training karate because my
family was well versed in martial arts, especially excelling in Renbukai
Karate. Needless to say this wasn't a huge leap for me to begin training
karate. I started training as a little girl at the age of 5. The training made me strong and confident, these qualities led me to achieve
great things within my personal and work life including karate itself. I was
13 when my love of teaching began to emerge. During these years I
pursued many different activities. I returned to karate in 2002
under the instruction of Glen Smith and Rob Kirik. From this point on I began
to train hard and found myself succeeding. Karate is a compass that has
directed me to a life I thoroughly enjoy. I believe that the supportive,
compassionate figures like Smith Sensei and Kirik Sensei made my journey
well worth the travel to get there, as well as the people I train with and
instruct.
The dojo is supportive, it encourages people
to do well, not just in the karate world but out in the community as well.
A brief history of my training experience:
I started training in 1987, I began teaching
in 1994 when I reached the rank of green belt.
I achieved the rank of Shodan (Black Belt) in
2006 while training at the Renbukai Dojo in Ebina, Japan.
